Suit Design

King & Allen offer a choice of two construction methods: Modern and Traditional Bespoke. The former suit design is contemporary and high tech, while the latter follows the Savile Row guidelines for traditional suit-making.

Both have their merits, and our consultants (who are not paid commission) are trained to guide you towards the range the best suits your needs.

Modern Bespoke

  • Tailors have used latest technology to be more efficient.
  • Can be completed in as little as 2 weeks.
  • Suit is completed, then any alterations are made afterwards.
  • Over 3000 cloths to choose from and almost infinite style options.
  • Unique pattern, made to your measurements and posture.
  • Canvas chest piece for structure and shape with padded, rolling lapel.
  • Outstanding value for money.

Where the best of traditional meets the best of modern…

What is a Modern Bespoke suit?

Our Modern Bespoke suits are constructed using most of the same techniques used in our Traditional Bespoke range. They use many of the same cloths, raw materials and trimmings, including: felt meltons, horsehair canvas chest pieces and horn buttons. As with our Traditional Bespoke range, we take a full set of measurements and posture notes, and offer an almost infinite choice of styles and options.

How is it made?

In our Modern Bespoke workshop, our tailors have embraced the many advances in technology (such as laser cutting) that have improved the efficiency of the tailoring process. This has also made the process faster; reducing lead times, costs and the number of fittings required.

While the suit design methods may be less romantic, the end product is easily comparable to a traditionally made bespoke suit – exquisitely finished and extremely hard-wearing.

Who is this range for?

If you want a bespoke suit that embraces the modern age and provides outstanding value for money (opening you up to some of the finest cloths in the world) – we recommend our Modern Bespoke range.

How much does a Modern Bespoke suit cost?

Prices for a two piece suit in our Modern Bespoke range start at £499 and can be completed in as little as two weeks (express charge applies).

Traditional Bespoke

  • Tailored according to the Savile Row Bespoke Association guidelines, at a fraction of the price.
  • Over 3000 cloths to choose from and infinite style options.
  • Unique pattern, hand-cut and made to your measurements and posture.
  • Entirely hand-stitched with a fully-floating canvas for exceptional drape.
  • Baste fitting conducted on the half-finished suit for an even better fit.
  • Takes over 50 hours of highly skilled work.
  • Truly the best that bespoke has to offer.

The traditional Savile Row experience…

What is a Traditional Bespoke suit?

A Traditional Bespoke suit is made how suits on Savile Row have always been made; entirely hand-crafted with a full floating horsehair canvas and a baste fitting – as per the tailoring guidelines set out by the Savile Row bespoke association.

The baste fitting is an opportunity to try on a skeleton version of the suit midway through the tailoring process, allowing us to really fine-tune the fit and style of the suit.

How is it made?

An individual pattern is chalked out onto your chosen cloth, and hand-cut by our head cutter, who oversees the whole tailoring process.

The suit is then hand-stitched and hand-finished by our team of master craftsmen and women, including a coat, a trouser and a waistcoat maker, a striker, a presser, a seamstress and a buttonhole maker.

It takes over 50 hours of highly skilled work to complete the suit, but hand-stitching ensures that the ‘give’ in the stitches will adjust to your body shape, actually improving the fit over time.

Who is this range for?

If you want the best suit design that bespoke tailoring has to offer, at a price you can afford, we recommend the Traditional Bespoke range.

How much does a Traditional Bespoke suit cost?

A two piece in our Traditional Bespoke range starts at just £799, and takes approximately 12 weeks to complete.
